How to fall asleep with ADHD Music Focus
All of us have faced the problem – tomorrow there’s an important meeting, an early flight, or you need to finish a report in the morning. And it’s exactly at that moment that you can’t fall asleep. I deal with this regularly myself – the next day I’m exhausted and basically glued to the coffee machine
What are the causes of insomnia?
There are clinical cases of insomnia where only medication helps. If that’s not about you, then read on.
In other cases, most likely you’re simply overworked. Your brain got stuck in a state of hyperarousal: constantly observing, planning, worrying. Stress doesn’t let you switch into rest mode.
What can help with insomnia?
The trap of familiar methods
I’ll share what works for me:
- counting sheep
- reading books
- listening to podcasts.
Most likely you’ve already tried counting sheep. Sometimes it helps, but more often you get distracted by other thoughts, your brain can’t disengage. Second place goes to podcasts. And best of all is reading, until your eyes start closing on their own.
All three methods are a way to tire yourself out. Essentially, we keep stimulating the brain until it says “I can’t anymore.” If you do manage to fall asleep (pray that a second wind doesn’t kick in, otherwise you won’t sleep until morning), it’s only because your brain gave up. But it was exactly the brain’s hyperactivity that was keeping us from falling asleep. A vicious circle.
So how do you actually fall asleep
There is a solution:
- white noise (an even distribution of noise across the entire audible spectrum)
- pink or brown noise (lower frequencies are more pronounced)
- nature sounds.
The mechanism is simple:
- the brain latches onto a clear and predictable stimulus and doesn’t get bored
- the sound carries no semantic load
- other noises (water, cars, neighbors) become less noticeable and no longer wake you up.
According to studies, white noise helps you fall asleep 38% faster than in a normal environment. On our service you can find presets of white, pink, and brown noise – turn it on and sleep until morning.
